Birthday Weekend

Caroline and I just finished up a fun weekend of celebrating our birthdays together.  We planned to have her party on Saturday, March 17, which also happens to be my birthday.  Tommy had asked if I cared about having her party on my day.  Since I was turning 30, I thought it a great way not to focus on entering a new decade, but to celebrate the great day of turning 3!  What I didn't know if that Tommy had been scheming with family and friends and planned a surprise party for me as well.  I think he had it to his advantage that I was busy planning Caroline's details that I was completely unsuspecting of anything.  It turned out to be a great day.  Caroline's best friend and boyfriend were able to come to the party.  She had a blast.  It was fun to watch the kids play so well together.  And boy did she soak up the attention of turning 3.  She was all into having HER party!!

So unsuspecting of anything...even at the Mexican restaurant.  Nothing like a song, sombrero, and tequila shot!

The kids wanted a turn with the hat!

Sweet scheming friend...she was in on it all along

So lucky to have friends as neighbors!

Love this man

Yes, even a pinata

All the kids took a turn

And Tommy enjoyed finishing it off

The kids were funny only taking the candy they wanted.  They were in no hurry.

Caroline went for the chocolate

Loving having a princess in her cake

Tommy had these signs hanging on our street.  Jack made me this special crown.

After a fun day of celebrating.

Now to celebrate Caroline's actual birthday today.  I'm off from work and ready for a fun day with her.  We'll see what we get into!

Basketball

Jack just finished up his 6 week Start Smart Basketball class offered through the county.  What a neat program.  He had a great time practicing every week and getting to show off his skills.  I don't want to sound like one of those bragging moms, but he's actually really good!  I think the child just has a natural attraction to all things sports.  I wonder what sport he will be most drawn to as he gets older.  As of now, I would have to guess baseball and basketball.  Being a lefty could be good too!

Here are some fun shots from the last night of class.  Caroline got to tag a long a few weeks as well.  Nothing like a big open gym to burn some energy off!

No awards here

So as you can tell, I am not in the running for any kind of blog awards.  I keep telling myself, update the blog for the 2 readers out there.  I guess it would probably help to get the camera out and actually take some pictures.  To be honest, I think the camera has come out only 3-4 times in the past 2 months since I last posted.

I guess we've been busy trying to stay afloat with the business of having 2 active kids and two full time jobs on top of being parents.  It's what we do though!  The RA has given us some new challenges to deal with.  The sheer exhaustion and fatigue have been an issue the last couple of months.  Pretty much the months of January and February were spent with me in bed by about 8pm most nights.  I just couldn't function much after that!  Tommy has been simply amazing at helping take some extra kid duties in the evenings to help me rest.  Fortunately, some of my energy seems to have returned a bit and I have seen 9pm here lately!  There have been changes in my meds, but not sure if it is helping or I'm just starting to adapt to my new "normal."  The restasis has seemed to help my eyes though, thankfully.  Still dry and burning, but not as constant as before.  So I'll take it!

Now we are in birthday mode.  I'm excited to share mine with Caroline's birthday party this year.  She's so excited that we are having a "princess party" together.  I'll be sure to actually have a camera out for that.  Anyways though, here's what I've got!

A good cooking helper.  She loves chocolate!

Here's Caroline posing in one of the smocked dresses my mother made for my sister and me  when we were little.

Such a cutie.  Glad to have enough hair for pigtails!

Jack and his new fish tank.  He worked hard for this.  6 fish to start...5 have already been replaced!

Still sweet on each other.

Caroline's first time at the circus.  Jack is a goofball for pictures now!

Semi-decent...

Best idea ever...stopped at the dollar store before the circus and brought along our own glow sticks!
